Wishing Everyone A Merry Xmas and Awesome New Year

We have had an awesome year and what seems a very busy year.  Some of the highlights include:

  • Revi's birthday celebrations in Wellington and Hanmer Springs
  • Trip to Rarotonga and Autituka for my birthday in June...I must say that Autituka is my idea of paradise!!
  • The lantern festival in Chiang Mai with Revi

We are spending Xmas at home this year and having a picnic with Bailey on the beach.  The last few years we have had a New Years party at Rongomai Ridge with lots of people camping out.  We decided to have a break this year and have opted to have a quiet new year.  Check out our Xmas tree with a differene this year

We decided not to put up the tree this year so I went and bought some nice flowers to brighten the living room. Check out our yummy Xmas breakfast...

Mel loves working from home and doing a weekly commute to Wellington for two days, which gives her a night at her sisters place, time to play with the nephews, read them bed time stories and put them to bed.  She has bought a blokart  (land yacht) and all you can hear as she sails past is wahoo...

I have wasted many hours on setting up my weather station and having it update realtime to the website.  If you happen to check the weather page at night there is a picture of Yofi sleeping rather than of black sky but by dy the photo updates approximately every 10 minutes.  Now I am building a stevesons screen (weather box like you see at the airports) so I can get more accurate temperature readings.  I am building it on a shoestring budget ... so far it has cost me less than NZD$5 to build...the end product will probably cost around $50 due to the cost of the white outdoor paint!

The website has had a revamp...and the bottlebrush in the background is a photo taken from the backyard.  The tui's nest here and it is awesome to watch them go about their day.  They love to dive bomb Bailey....he has stopped taking any notice of them but the Tui's haven't quite worked that one out yet.

Yofi is still bringing in presents in the middle of the night.  In the last week she has decided that it would be fun to bring frogs into the house in the middle of the night and let them go....now you try catching a SCRETCHING frog!  Bailey is good with the vermon but turns his nose up when it comes to frogs.  A few nights ago she brought me a lizard and two mice during the night....I wasn't impressed.

The pohutukawa (New Zealand Xmas tree) in the garden has just started flowering ....if they flower before Xmas we are supposed to get a good summer so heres hoping the tale lives up to expectations.

We hope you all have a great Xmas and New Year and will catch up soon
